Mar 8, 2017 -- Ari Odzer from NBC 6 visited our school to profile our school's efforts to restore the Cowhorn Orchid, or Cryptopodium punctatum, that is nearly extinct in the wild in Florida.

Miami Laker: Jose Marti MAST Academy ushers in new programs
July 14, 2016 -- Jose Marti MAST Academy 6-12 announced that 18 graduates from the class of 2016 were awarded Florida Bright Futures Scholarships. The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program establishes three lottery-funded scholarships to reward Florida high school graduates for high academic achievement. There are two kinds of scholarships: the Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) and the Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS).

WSCV-TV 51 Telemundo in Miami featured our school's Green Club in a story about Earth Day.
Million Orchid Project
Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy was in the news again on Friday, May 15, 2015. The Associated Press sent a journalist to learn more about the Million Orchid Project in which our school is participating. The story about our school's contribution to the project ran on the websites of newspapers across the country.
Justine Padron, Eco-Hero Contest Winner
Congratulations to Justine Padron, the winner of the Eco-Hero Contest presented by WPLG Local10 and Zoo Miami. This summer she will travel to the Canadian rockies with Ron Magill from Zoo Miami and Kristy Krueger from WPLG. They will experience nature and conservation efforts in British Columbia, Canada.

Ten80 Competition
WTVJ NBC6 story about a Ten80 Racing Invitational at the Miami Homstead Speedway on March 9, 2018. The Ten80 team at Jose Marti MAST the MAST and Furious participated in this competition and was recognized in the drag race and graphic design categories.

Vizcaya Issues in Preservation Field Study
World History Honors classes visited Vizcaya Museum and Gardens on January 12, 2017 for a field study in Issues in Preservation. Students explored the house and grounds of the villa to identify and understand the challenges involved in preserving historic locations while keeping them open to the public.

Local School To Launch Satellite
HIALEAH, Fla. -- Jose Marti MAST Academy, a magnet school with a focus on science, technology, and engineering will launch a satellite to capture real-time environmental data. The launch and satellite are a product of the BioTech class, a special science elective open to advanced high school students.

Fairchild Challenge for Middle School Awards Ceremony
The Fairchild Challenge for middle school awards ceremony was held on May 13, 2015. Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy was recognized with first place for our entry in challenge 6 Conservation Strategies - Lizards on the Loose. Our school also met the challenge for 2014-2015.
