| Your child
will receive a red vinyl pocket folder on the first day of school. This Red
Folder will be used as our “Communication Folder.”
Each time I have an important letter or form to send home to you, I
will ask your child to place it inside his/her red folder. This
folder will serve as a great method of communication, and will
ensure that all important forms or documents don’t get lost in the
transition from school to home or vice versa. Occasionally, you may
find field trip forms, school order forms, memos from the office,
and letters from me inside this folder. With that in mind, it is
very important that you check your child’s communication folder
daily for new information. Also, please make sure your child brings
his/her communication folder to school each day so I can send home
this information. If you have an important letter or document you’d
like for me to see or keep, you can also place it inside this
folder. I’ll be sure to ask for it the following morning. I
routinely check each child’s communication folder every morning for
messages or notes from home. It is important that we work together
in order to ensure a successful school year for your child.
I will also
be giving your child a homework sheet on Mondays. This sheet is to
be kept on the back of the Communication Folder. That way it will be
safe and not get lost during the week. On Fridays, you can
remove the homework sheet from the back and throw it away. I'll be
giving out a new homework sheet the following Monday.

Your child will need
6 Duo-Tang Pocket Folders With Prongs for class. Colors are
listed below. Once you have purchased these
folders with prongs, please label each folder accordingly. Don’t
forget to write your child’s full name, grade, and our name on the
bottom of each folder in case any folder gets lost. That way the
folder can be returned.
Label the
folders as following:
1. Math Folder
(Blue)
Your child will
receive extra practice math worksheets or packets to work on during
math time, free time, and at home. I will ask your child to neatly
store these worksheets inside their math folder. This way, when it
comes time to study for a chapter test, your child may use these
extra practice worksheets to study from.
2. Reading & language Arts Folder (Green)
This folder is
extremely important. Please help me keep this folder organized by
looking through it each night. This folder will store important
papers, handouts, and writing tips that I will provide your child
with throughout the school year. I tell the children that if they
receive a paper with holes in it; it is an automatic sign to place
this paper in the middle section of the folder with the prongs.
Throughout the year, I always refer back to a specific handout that
I gave them. It would be easier for the children to complete their
work and use these hangouts as a guide if all the papers were kept
in its appropriate place.
3. Content
Folder ( Yellow)
This folder will
be used to store any Science or Social Studies worksheets that we
may working on in class and using during a thematic unit. I always
refer back to our notes and I encourage the students to use this
folder to organize their work.
4. Spanish
Folder
This folder is
for the Spanish teacher. The children will keep any Spanish related
worksheets and their Spanish homework inside this folder.
Remember that you child has Spanish homework once a week.
5. Music Folder
This folder is
for the Music teacher. She often passes out the lyrics to songs that
they are working on, and different handouts with music notes and
music history facts. Your child can keep all their music papers
neatly inside this folder.
6. Art Folder
This folder is
for the Art teacher. She also gives the children worksheets on Art
history and facts. They are to be placed inside this folder.
By labeling your
child's folders you can help in keeping your child organized and
neat throughout the school year. |
