Mr. Van Smith's Teaching Experience                 

This is the third year in my teaching career and my second year at Palmetto.  I began in 2000 at Southridge teaching American History.  The very next year I moved on up the road to Palmetto.  Last year, I began what I assume will be a very long run at Palmetto.  I taught four classes of Honors American History and one class of Honors Government/Economics.  This year I have been given the pleasure of having five Honors American classes.  To backtrack a little, I became a teacher after graduating college and deciding against a career in business.

My wife Beth (see below) is pregnant with our first child Brian Daniel Van Smith due in late October.  Plenty of new pictures will be put up then, of course.  We were married in July of 2001 and are doing quite well.  She is in school to become a registered nurse and every dime not spent on the baby is saved up for our future house.

Other info about Mr.Van Smith       

• Graduated from Killian Senior High in 1995

• Graduated from the University of Florida in 2000 (with a Bachelors and Masters in Accounting and a minor in Economics)

• Has two older brothers, George and Chris

• Loves to watch the Miami Dolphins, Florida Gators, and Cincinnati Reds
