Course Description

Honors United States History is designed to provide students with a solid grounding in the subject matter of United States history and in major interpretive questions that derive from the study of selected themes.  Utilizing the textbook, primary source readings, discussion, and other methods of inquiry, the course strives to strike a balance between teaching factual knowledge and critical analysis.  Fortunately, the large volume of course content allows many opportunities to call upon different learning styles.  The course will focus on social, political, economic, technological, and diplomatic history.  Moving both chronologically and thematically through the course outline, the course is broken into ten large units:
