Sunshine State Program Rules

The Sunshine State program is a reading promotion sponsored by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Association for Media in Education. 

For the 2009-2010 school year, the Beckham Sunshine State Program will begin in September and end in March with Voting Day.  The Battle of the Books competition will take place in April or May.

  1. Read a Sunshine State book.

  2.   Pass the AR quiz and let your teacher know.

  3. Bring the signed slip to the media center.

  4. Your name will go up on our Sunshine State board and be announced on the B.E.S.T. News.

  5.  You will receive a sticker that says "I have read _____Sunshine State Books! and a bookmark for that book.

  6. Reading more books will give you more prizes including a free book to keep for the 10th book you read and every one after that.

If you read at least three books:

You get a special Sunshine State pencil and get to  vote for your favorite title on Voting Day.

 

TOP READERS ARE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE BATTLE OF THE BOOKS  

Books can be checked out from our media center, public libraries (ask for the Sunshine State Books, grades 3-5) or bought at bookstores.
