Battalion Commander

Staff

As a LET 4 and a senior at Miami Killian there are many skills that I have learned that I have applied in my life. One of the many is initiative, I have learned how to make decisions on my own. The program has taught me discipline, integrity, and citizenship. JROTC has been the most fun that I have had in my high school career. I am the principle trainer for the Drill Teams. Being my fourth year in Drill Team, I have learned coordination and creativity. JROTC has given me life-long friends and memories that will last forever.

As the Battalion Commander I am the cadet in charge of the battalion. That entales that everything that the battalion does and everything that the battalion fail to do is my responsibility. Whenever anything happens to the battalion, I am always aware of it and I am never unprepared for the event.

I’m a senior at Miami Killian Senior High School. This is my fourth year in JROTC. JROTC have helped me to grow as a person, I have learned leadership skills and it helped me prepare for life. My freshman year I enjoin the program because I wanted to be part of something, I was really shy I wasn’t able to talk to an audience without freaking out. By the second nine weeks I was able to talk to my classmates and people that I didn’t know with confidence. I’m a member of the drill and raider teams. JROTC have made a positive impact on my life.

I’m the Battalion Executive Officer, I’m primarily responsible for supervising and controlling the staff, I am responsible for what the staff does or fails do to as well as managing numerous special programs as directed by the Battalion Commander or the Senior Army Instructors. I assume the command of the battalion during the absence of the Battalion Commander. My duties and responsibilities include assisting the Battalion Commander in the performance of his duties, and conducting the Command & Staff meetings. I also evaluate and recommend Staff Officers for promotion.

Command Sergeant Major

Staff

I have had great experiences in JROTC. Being in the program changed me to be the out spoken person I am today. It taught me how to take lead and be a good leader which is what the country mostly needs. JROTC teaches you how to deal with the most difficult people. Also, it demonstrates an actual business where even if you don’t like someone you still have to be able to get the job done. You learn plenty of management skills that are useful for those that want to work in corporations. I love being in JROTC, it gives you a sense that there are people there that care about you and your well being.

I am the Command Sergeant Major of the Miami Killian JROTC Cougar Battalion. This is my 4th year being in the program. I find this program to be a great tool that all high school students should use. Not only are you educated in the military but most importantly academically. Our main focus is get more students into college and have them excel in there classes. The goal for the program is to motivate young people to be better citizens. I look after each of the cadets in the program and make sure they stay on track with everything that they have to do.

Battalion S-5

Staff

My 3 years in the JROTC program have been both beneficial and a wonderful experience. I have met friends I wouldn't have normally talked to without JROTC, giving me life-long friends. As a LET 3, JROTC has shown me lessons a normal teacher would not have taught. It has shown me that I have the ability to do anything by giving me tasks as if in a career. It also has shown me the importance of team work. In JROTC, we aren’t just cadets working on getting that promotion; we are a family working together to accomplish our mission.

As the Battalion S-6, I am basically the ‘technical geek’ of the battalion. If someone is having trouble with any equipment, they come to me to fix it. I am in charge of all electrical equipment, such as computers, microphones, projectors, cameras, etc. I am also the one that edits and maintains the Killian JROTC website, keeping it up to date. While at events, such as competitions, my group of assistants and I, are in charge of recording the event along with taking pictures. We are the ‘historians’, if you will.
